“From childhood I have always had a love of paper and cards. The crisp, clean feel and endless variety, ranging from delicate and intricate Japanese papers, bold and highly textured Indian and Thai hand-made papers, simple vellum and parchment.
“In recent years a huge variety of high quality craft / scrap-booking papers have come onto the market with ever-changing seasonal designs and colours. My work-room is a veritable treasure trove!
“For many years I worked with various paper-craft techniques to produce greetings cards, alongside experimenting with watercolour, acrylics, encaustic art and finally finding a ‘home’ with mixed media art on canvas.
“In 2012 I came across an unusual paper-craft technique called paper quilting, combining machine stitching with paper to create a paper quilt or patchwork effect. It was a ‘eureka’ moment for me, resulting in the establishing of my craft art business ‘Paper Stitch Designs’, with an expanding range of styles as new ideas come to me.
“A lifelong appreciation of beauty in nature inspires my photography, from which I produce a range of paper-quilt cards, incorporating my photographs of flowers, trees, wildlife, local Wirral landscapes and photos tracking nature through the changing seasons.
“I have developed the Paper Stitch technique to produce personalised, collaged memory pictures incorporating the client’s own photos of family, special events, holidays and celebrations. These are proving popular as commissions for unique and unusual gifts.
“Paper Stitch Designs offers a high quality service providing bespoke and personalised pictures, greetings cards, gift-card and money gift wallets.
“I also offer one-to-one tuition and demonstrations.”
