I have a BA(Hons) in Graphic Design and worked as a designer in Liverpool before becoming a full time artist and professional tutor working from my studio in South Wirral.
I work predominantly in watercolour, mixed media, acrylic and a variety of drawing media. Light effects and colours in the landscape are my favourite subject matter and watercolours are such a fantastic, versatile medium for expressing mood and atmosphere in a painting. Mountains, rivers and the coast are all subjects I am constantly drawn to. Snowdonia, the Lake District and rugged Cornish coastline in particular.
I also enjoy experimenting with mixed media and different surface textures, constantly looking for new ways to use the materials before me. Nature is a great spark for firing one’s creativity.
My portfolio of work also includes greeting card designs, interior design illustrations and a variety of commissions including landscapes, portraits and local scenes.
In 2007 I established The Sandpiper Studio as a permanent space for art classes, demonstrations and workshops. Set in a peaceful, countryside location at Foxes Riding School on the Wirral, it is also the ideal space for my studio and a permanent exhibition of my work. I also have a small shop area selling discounted art materials.
During the Wirral Open Studio weekend we will be selling tea, coffee and cakes in aid of St. John’s Hospice so please drop in for coffee and a chat.
